Teen groups participate in workshops providing opportunities to discuss challenges they are facing as young people in a complex world and gain strategies and allies to ease the transition through adolescence.

Conflict Management and Peer Mediation Groups

Giving children the opportunity to learn methods of conflict prevention and resolution and the importance of building positive relationships prior to any conflict arising. We teach the ABC’s of how kids can avoid conflicts as well as how to approach a conflict they might be able to help resolve. The basic steps to follow are stressed to the young mediators in order to teach them how to help their peers work out problems.

Creative Art Classes

A tried and true portfolio of fantastic creative arts projects. With over two decades of teaching experience, our instructor offers countless projects that will engage children and teens and open windows of artistic expression that will give the kids a feeling of great accomplishment and pride. Your kids will be thrilled and their families will be amazed by their unlocked creativity!

Group Games and Trust Builders

Group-dynamic games are more than just for fun. They are experiential education exercises which help people to learn about themselves, their peers, and how groups function from a social point of view. They also happen to be lots of FUN! We will come to your site to lead a wide variety of name games, icebreakers, team building, trust builders and cooperative games with groups of as many as 40 - 50 children and teens.

The Cedar Center Breakfast Club

We get together on weekend mornings with Bay Area kids for day trips to regional parks, beaches and other outdoor destinations to spend time with old and new friends

and experience the natural environment that remains unexplored and just out of reach

for most inner city youth. Each outing children prepare a meal and eat together, strengthening our sense of family and belonging as well as promoting a healthy diet. Contact cedar center for more information on how your child can join for one outing or sign on for the whole season.

Love Strategy Workshop

“What is your love strategy?” A workshop designed by Patch Adams and shared with our camp children and staff once a year for the past ten years. “Think about your love for all people everywhere. Don’t Leave Anyone out. Now hold that thought for the rest of your life.”

A discussion on the importance of loving oneself, other people and the planet. Remembering that love is thoughtful action, not only emotional expression, we discuss and develop strategies for showing ‘love’ and what strategies people in our community have already put into action. The goal of the exercises is to open our hearts to care for others and allow others to care for us, then to set our personal love strategy in motion in order to realize a safe and healthy local and global community.

Classes and services offered to children also include:

Theater & improvisational acting, visual arts, murals, video and movie making, youth yoga, clowning, juggling, magic, mask-making, poetry, songwriting, hip hop dance, team sports and group games. Nature walks. Love Strategy Workshop.

The following services are available to schools, camps, after school programs, group homes and other programs offering enrichment, intervention and education to children and teens.
